GMP

What is GMP? GMP stands for Guaranteed Minimum Pension. At one time the Plan was ‘contracted out’ of part of the Additional State Pension. Broadly speaking, this means the Plan promised you a pension that is at least equal to the Additional State Pension you would have built up had the schemes not been contracted out. Between 1978 and 1997, this part of pension is known as GMP.

2 June 2025 Member consultation period starts.
31 July 2025 Member consultation period ends.
March 2026 New pension payments will start.
